WINTER WEDDING TIPS

With sharp cold weather, amazing luxurious colours, a winter wedding can be a truly amazing time to tie the knot.

When the winter nights are long and drawn out, a winter wedding can prove to be a great break in the winter nights with fairy lights, warm laughter with family and friends.

Like with a summer wedding, there are certain things you need to consider and be aware of including that more winter weddings are currently available and not as in great demand as the summer months, therefore making them a financial asset.

Here we give some tips that can help you make your winter wedding a truly memorable day.

1) Evening Viewing

Make your appointment to view your venue in the evening which will give you a true indication of the setting, how it will look in the long winter nights, the heating arrangements, lighting as well as all of the facilities that are on offer.

2) Check the Price

Check how much the price will be of your suppliers. Some suppliers offer a cheaper deal on the months that they are not as busy. Plus in the winter months a lot of suppliers have availability such as caterers as they are not as in demand. However the closer you are to Christmas and New Year the price may rise slightly again due to demand.  At Unique Occasions at Loversall Limited we have some availability in the winter months which are November to February.

3) The Weather

Be mindful of the weather. Depending on the venue check what they have in place for smokers outside or for people who want to sit outside and get a breath of fresh air – such as outdoor heaters. Check that they have adequate heating inside and have back up plans should their heating break unexpectedly. Plus suitable places for guest to park and provisions made for parking on grass. Don’t forget to ask about where the photographer could take pictures should the weather turn for the worst.  Fortunately at Unique Occasions at Loversall Limited, we can accommodate with every aspect.

4) Winter Fashion

With rich colours like deep green dresses for the bridesmaids to classical and sophisticated winter grooms wear, you can be sure if you’re prefer the ‘autumn/winter’ fashion season to be completely in your comfort zone. Plus for the bridesmaid you can experiment with velvet and lace to name but a few fashionable alternatives.

5) It's the little things that add a special touch

Just like in the summer you can add those little extra touches that will really pull your wedding theme together such as pine cones for the table, blankets on the back of chairs or faux fur throws. Don’t forget the stationery which can also be in winter tones or sophisticated metallic colours for a truly rich element.

6) The Cake

It goes without saying that your guests will not only want to know what the cake looks like to take pictures (as well as the happy couple) but also how the cake tastes. Just like a wedding in the summer months a good cake baker is a must. Cake experts like Charlotte Wilcox in Bawtry are truly experienced in creating a winter masterpiece in winter colours with metallic aspects which taste amazing. Whoever you employ to make your cake, be sure to taste their cakes prior to ordering and see examples of their work to make a good judgment.

7) Dazzling Entertainment

If you want to add a bit of panache to your big day, why not celebrate with a fire works display (should your venue allow). Be sure the company you employ is fully insured and you’ve seen their work prior to booking. You could also let your guests toast marshmallows at a fire pit or have other seasonal entertainment or musicians.

8) Floral Delights

A great florist will be experienced in using seasonal flowers and foliage that will blow you and your guests away. As with everything, check out their work either in their shop and/or on social media to get a great feel of what they can offer at that time of year. Don’t forget to check with the venue what decorations they may have already up near Christmas and if they aren’t what you want up are they willing to take them down to accommodate your decorations.

9) Twinkle Twinkle

Seeing lots of twinkling fairy lights on a dark winters night adds a great mood setting and magical feel. Fortunately at Unique Occasions at Loversall Limited we just can’t get enough of fairy lights and are more than willing to accommodate you if you want even more.

10) Themes

As we have said before the colours you can choose from in the winter months are just as endless as the summer and can be even more luxurious.

When it comes to picking a theme get inspiration from social media and if you can, get a Venue Stylist to make your dreams come true like Karen at All Occasions in Worksop.
